چکیده

In these lectures, we introduce finite temperature QCD on the lattice to nonexperts of the subject. We first formulate lattice QCD both at zero and finite temperatures. Then a section is devoted to the topic of improved lattice actions which are becoming an essential ingredient of precision studies of QCD on the lattice. We then discuss about finite temperature SU(3) gauge theory, i.e. QCD without dynamical quarks (quenched QCD). Finally, we report recent status of studies in full QCD taking into account the effects of dynamical quarks. ∗) Lectures presented at the 1997 Yukawa International Seminar (YKIS’97) on “Non-Perturbative QCD — Structure of the QCD Vacuum —”, Kyoto, Japan, 2–12 Dec. 1997. Qcd at Finite Density

At sufficiently high temperature and density, quantum chromodynamics (QCD) predicts phase transition from the hadronic phase to the quark-gluon plasma phase. Lattice QCD is the most useful tool to investigate this critical phenomenon, which status is briefly reviewed. The usual problem in the Lagrangian formulation at finite density is either an incorrect continuum limit or its complex action a...

Chiral Symmetry Restoration and Deconfinement of Light Mesons at Finite Temperature

Abstract There has been a great deal of interest in understanding the properties of quantum chromodynamics (QCD) for a finite value of the chemical potential and for finite temperature. Studies have been made of the restoration of chiral symmetry in matter and at finite temperature. The phenomenon of deconfinement is also of great interest, with studies of the temperature dependence of the conf...

TIFR Annual Report 2001-02 THEORETICAL PHYSICS High Energy Physics

Establishing the order of the deconfinement phase transition for the SU(4) lattice gauge theory at finite temperature is important for understanding of the physics of the phase transition to quark-gluon plasma. Employing a modified action to avoid spurious transitions, the theory was simulated on lattices of different sizes. A first order deconfinement transition with large latent heat was esta...

This manuscript is the collection of lectures given in the summer school on strongly correlated electron systems held at Isfahan university of technology, June 2007. A short overview on quantum magnetism and spin systems is presented. The numerical exact diagonalization (Lanczos) alghorithm is explained in a pedagogical ground. This is a method to get some ground state properties on finite clus...

Hamiltonian lattice quantum chromodynamics at finite density with Wilson fermions

Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) at sufficiently high density is expected to undergo a chiral phase transition. In Lagrangian SU(3) lattice gauge theory, the standard approach breaks down at large chemical potential μ, due to the complex action problem. (QCD at large μ is of particular importance for neutron star or quark star physics). The Hamiltonian formulation of lattice QCD doesn’t encounter s...
